John G. Crabtree received his law degree from the University of Florida in 1990. He is board certified in appellate practice by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization, is a member of the American Law Institute, and has argued before the Supreme Court of the United States. He works in the areas of appellate practice and class action litigation.
By appointment of the president of The Florida Bar, Mr. Crabtree was recently named the 2009-2010 Chair of Florida's Appellate Court Rules Committee. He also chairs the Special Subcommittee on Electronic Filing - a committee drafting the rules for electronic filing in Florida's appellate courts. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida appointed him to serve on the Committee on District Court of Appeal Workload and Jurisdiction - one of only four private practitioners appointed to the seventeen-person Committee. He also served on the six-person steering committee for Florida's First Annual Appellate Justice Conference: The Role of the District Court of Appeal Decision. His cases have been featured in the national media, including The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and The National Law Journal, and he has received Martindale Hubbell's highest rating.
Mr. Crabtree has chaired The Florida Bar's 1400-member Appellate Practice Section, chaired the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers' Appellate Section, and served two years as the Editor of the Bar's Florida Appellate Practice Guide. He is the author of The Record on Appeal - Civil Appeals, a chapter in the Bar's treatise, Florida Appellate Practice. In addition, he has lectured and written on multiple appellate and class action issues for The Florida Bar and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers throughout the last decade. Mr. Crabtree has served as a consultant and expert witness in the area of appellate practice, and is often retained by trial counsel to give his legal opinion on a variety of issues.
George R. Baise Jr. received his J.D. in 1994 from the California Western School of Law in San Diego. He later engaged in advanced study at the University of Miami School of Law's LL.M. program for Ocean and Coastal Law. George has focused his practice in the area of appellate law, and his cases have covered a wide range of complex civil appellate issues. He is a member of The Florida Bar's Appellate Practice Section, where he serves on the CLE Committee and the Publications Committee.
Thomas M. Pflaum (of counsel) has been an appellate practitioner since he graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1976. With his experience and reputation, Tom is frequently asked to act as appellate counsel for firms throughout the state, and has handled appeals in all of Florida's state and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Pflaum has received Martindale Hubbell's highest rating.
